Mumtaz Ali has been working on various issues for the last ten years that are directly or indirectly related to health promotion, communication and social mobilization as well as program management with government, national and international organization/UN agencies. He has recently completed an assignment for Polio Eradication Initiative PEI/EPI Program with UNICEF Nigeria as a Communication/Social Mobilization Specialist to provide technical support to the Government of Nigeria to develop and implement social mobilization and communication strategy for Polio Eradication and support the Kano State Team on their day-to-day health promotion activities for Polio and Routine Immunization in the country.
Prior to joining UNICEF Nigeria, he worked as a Communication Specialist for WatSan with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) at its Headquarter in Pakistan and as an instructor at Health Services Academy (now Public Health University, Islamabad) teaching courses on Health Promotion, Health Research and Gender Equity for MSPH class.
Mumtaz Ali has a wealth of experience ranging from his work with the Ministry of Population Welfare, Government of Pakistan, as a Social Scientist/Instructor and trained various health service providers on reproductive health themes, mother and child health care, family planning and population welfare programs and policies in support of the MDGs in Pakistan. He has worked with the National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS) Government of Pakistan as a project officer on evaluation of the impact of media on Reproductive Health Behaviour, Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (PDHS) and Demand for Male Children in Rural Settings. He has also worked with UNICEF Pakistan as a Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) Expert on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) (MDGs 4&5) to work on an intensive BCC agenda of the National MNCH Program primarily to support the rolling out of its communication plans.
