Dr. Manoncourt is the founding President of M&D Consulting Inc. and a retired UN official who currently works as a senior management and development consultant. Based in Paris France, she specializes in developing behaviour and social change interventions, designing participatory methodologies and evaluating behavioural interventions at both individual and community levels. During her UNICEF employment for 16 years, she held the following positions: Country Representative in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Deputy Representative in India and Chief, Programme Communication/Social Mobilization in New York. Prior to joining the United Nations, Dr. Manoncourt was an Assistant Professor at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in the Department of Applied Health Sciences where she headed the Health Communication Unit. In her earlier career, she also served as the Director of the Southeast Regional Support Centre, which provided training/technical assistance to mental health and substance abuse programmes in the south-eastern United States and the Caribbean.
Dr. Manoncourt is also the current Vice-President for Communications in the International Union of Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) and Co-chair of the IUHPE Global Working Group on Social Determinants of Health. Additionally, she has worked over 30 years in international development providing technical assistance in management/leadership, strategic planning, training and facilitation skills, communication for development, and research, monitoring and evaluation. As a public health specialist in behaviour and social change, she has worked more than fifteen years in Sub-Saharan Africa in the areas of community-based development, nutrition and health programming, evaluation of family planning and women’s health programs, strategic planning and behavioural research.
